Opportunities in Energy Sectors in India

Ministry of Power, Government of India is undertaking many landmark steps like enhanced penetration of renewables, focus on energy efficiency, EVs, storage and hydrogen.India will likely become a $22 trillion economy, about seven times its current GDP, with a population of 1.7 billion by 2070. This growth would require 8 fold growth in power sector.
The annual energy requirement of the country by 2047 (100 years of independence) would be ~1,950 MToe and more than 60% of the energy requirement is to be catered through electricity.
This translates into ~14,500 BU of annual electricity requirement and per capita consumption of ~10,000 units by 2047.
GoI of India has already started paving the way for its clean energy transition journey by
1. Setting up 500 GW of RE capacity target by 2030
2. Notification of National Green Hydrogen Mission with an outlay of INR 19,744 Cr and annual Green Hydrogen production target of 5 million Metric Tonne by 2030
3. Fast paced penetration of Electric Vehicles (Projected 30% EV penetration by 2030)
4. Transmission system plan for integration of over 500 GW of RE capacity by 2030
