Electricity : The Grid as Seen Today May Not Exist Tomorrow

Mr Harish Agarwal
Vice President, IEEMA

The electricity is going to be reaching the consumers. As they would be using it going forward is going to go through changes which we never would have visualised in the past. The changes are going to be transformational. They’ll amount to huge quantum leaps even to the extent we can say that the grid as seen today may not even exist tomorrow.

Many people call it the death spiral of utilities. In fact, there are so many changes going forward like. The most critical technologies that  the development of which will define the future of electricity will be energy storage, internet of things  and the complete digital control of the supply chain.
